Pray a little and be proud of yourself for stepping out of your comfort zone.

Sometimes I email myself to-do lists of everything I need to remember and accomplish. One time, while I jogged future Lindsay's memory, I also gave her a little pep talk that wrapped up with this:

"Pray a little and be proud of yourself for stepping out of your comfort zone."

After I typed it up, I took my hands off the keyboard and stared at it.

I can plan and prepare for every possibility. I can write lists, finish tasks, scribble out what I've done.  But, in some things, I can't control the outcome regardless of how much I do.

At some point I have to peel it out of my white-knuckled grip and release it. Let it all take shape or shift into whatever it's supposed to be. Watch for doors to open or close. No matter what's supposed to happen, I wait. And while I wait, I celebrate accomplishing what I did. Especially if I tried something new and scary. Even if it doesn't turn out the way I hoped it would.

Because I stepped out of my comfort zone and, for that, I should be proud.
